Friday, September 28th (Week#5)

Dear parents, Happy Thursday!  What did we do this week? 💓Grade one will not be writing a big test next week. We will write one end of November.💓 Phonics -  This week we learned about short /o/ (pot, dog, mop) this week. We practiced reading different short /o/ words and playing different fun games online. We also reviewed short /a/ and /i/ words. We had more practice and completed pages 25-30 in the Phonics Practice Book. Grammar   (green group)   - We learned about “Regular Plural Nouns with Consonant + y endings & Irregular Plural Nouns” this week. We learned that with consonant +y endings, we need to drop the y and add –ies. With irregular plural nouns, they each have different changes. For example one baby and two bab ies , one m a n and three m e n. We completed pages 18-20 in the Grammar book. Grammar   (red group)   - This week we continue learning about “Nouns & Articles (a, an)”. Nouns are naming words. We learned how to identify nouns (person, place, or thing)

Friday, September 22 (Week #4)

Dear parents, What did we do this week? Phonics -  This week we learned about the/ck/ sound (pi ck , ta ck , pa ck ) this week. We reviewed more on short /a/ and /i/ sound. We completed pages 19-24 in the Phonics Practice book. Grammar   (green group)  - This week we learned about “Regular Plural Nouns”. When making plural nouns, we add “s” to nouns that end in a consonant or e. We add “es” to nouns that end in ch, sh, x, or s. For example: one apple and two apple s,  one box and two box es . We had more practice and completed pages 14-16 in the Grammar Book. Grammar   (red group)   –This week we learned about “Nouns & Articles (a, an)”. Nouns are naming words. We learned how to identify nouns (person, place, or thing) and that they need articles (a, an, the) in front of the nouns when it is not a name. We use “a” with nouns that begin with a constant and “an” with nouns that begin with vowel sounds (a,e, i,o,u). We completed pages 10-11 in the Grammar Book. Spelling -  This

Dear parents TGIF! It’s such a blessing to have your child in my class. Everyone is doing well in English class! I am very proud of everyone for always doing their best and being proactive! What did we do this week? Phonics - This week we learned about short /i/ (pig, did, pin) this week. We practiced reading different short i words and played different fun games on the internet. We also reviewed short /a/ words. They all did really well. We had more practice and wrote pages 13-18 in the Phonics Practice book. Grammar (green group) - This week we learned about “Nouns & Articles (a, an) ”. Nouns are naming words. Friday, September 8th (Week #2)

Dear parents, Happy Friday! We had a busy week but it was very productive! We learned what the classroom rules are, and and met new & old friends. The students are finally getting used to having English class every day. Thank you so much for preparing  “English” supplies for your child. Please make sure your child has a separate pencil box for English class and one for Chinese class. I will be posting our classroom’s weekly blog on Fridays. What did we do this week? Phonics -  We continued learning about short /a/ (s a t, h a d, p a d) this week. We played and read different short /a/ words. It was so much fun! The students all enjoyed reading the words. We had more practice and wrote pages 7-12 in the Phonics Practice book. Grammar -  ( green group  &  red group )  - This week we learned about “The Alphabet, Word, & Sentences”.
