Friday, April 28th Week #11

Dear parents, What did we do this week? Phonics  - In this week’s phonics lesson we learned about vowel diphthong: ow & ou. We learned words like how, town, house, sour, and more. The students practiced by saying the words over and over again. They all did really a great job of identifying the vowel diphthong: ow & ou. We had more practice and wrote pages 145-150 in the Phonics Practice book. Grammar- This week we reviewed lessons 13-16 (red group) and lessons 17-20 (green group) . We wrote pages 76-77 (red group) and pages 94-95 (green group) . Everyone is doing great in Grammar class! Reading  - We reviewed all the old stories this week. Please remember to ask your child to read it to you at home. They have to keep it in their English bag so that they can read it at school and home.  Journeys   (green group) –  We read “The Dot” this week. They really enjoyed reading this story. Friday, April 19th Week #10

Dear parents, What did we do this week? Phonics-  In this week’s phonics lesson we learned about vowel diphthong: /ew. We learned words like chew, grew, dew, and much more. The students practiced by saying the words over and over again. They all did a great job identifying the diphthong: /ew. We had more practice and wrote pages 145-150 in the Phonics Practice book. Grammar  -   (red group)  This week we learned about “The Simple Present: Yes/ No Questions”. Yes/No Questions in the simple present begin with Do/Does. Example:  Do  you like this book? Yes, I  do .  Does  she have a new book? No, she  doesn’t . We completed pg 72-75 in the Grammar in Mind Book. Grammar  -   (green group)  This week we learned about “Imperatives”. Imperatives tell people to do or not to do something. Imperatives start with verbs with capital letters. For example: Sing. Don’t Sing. We completed pg 90-93 in the Grammar in Mind Book. Friday, April 12th Week #9

Dear parents, What did we do this week? Phonics: In this week’s phonics lesson, we learned about the long vowel "oo." We practiced words like "book," "stool," "food," and more. The students practiced by saying the words repeatedly. They all did a great job of identifying the long vowel "oo." We had more practice and completed pages 133-138 in the Phonics Practice book. Grammar (Green Group) : This week, we learned about "Can: Yes/No Questions." Yes/No questions can start with "can" and ask if someone or something is able to do something. We completed pages 86-88 in the Grammar in Mind textbook. Grammar (Red Group) : This week, we learned about "The Simple Present of the Verb 'Have'." We use the verb "have/has" for something that we possess or that belongs to us now. We completed pages 68-70 in the Grammar in Mind textbook. Reading : This week's readers are "A Fine Day for Kite

Wednesday, April 3rd Week #8

Dear parents, Even though it was a very short week, we managed to get everything done. I am very happy that everyone is working hard and being proactive! Thank you all for coming to see me last Saturday! 💗 Phonics  -  In this week’s phonics lesson  we learned about r-controlled vowels: /er, /ir, /ur. We learned words like her, girl, curl, burn, and more. The students practiced by saying the words over and over again. They all did really a great job of identifying the r-controlled vowel: /er, /ir, /ur. We had more practice and wrote pages 133-138 in the Phonics Practice book. Grammar  -   (green group)   This week we learned about modal verbs: can. “Can” says that you’re able to do something. “Can’t (cannot)” says that you’re not able to do something. This lesson was quite easy for some of the students. We practiced more conversation and went around telling our friends what we can and can’t do. They enjoyed sharing and listening to what everyone had to say. We completed pages 82-84 in
