Friday, October 27th (Week #9)

Dear parents,  What did we do this week?  Phonics  -  This week, we learned about the short /u/ sound (bug, cub, cup). We practiced reading different short /u/ words and played different fun games on the internet. We had more practice and completed pages 43-48 in the Phonics Practice Book.  Grammar   (green group) -  We learned about “The Verb Be: Yes/No Questions” this week. We make yes/o questions with the verb be. The verb be (am, are, is)   comes at the beginning of the sentences. For example: Are you a student? Yes, I am. We completed pg 32-34 in the Grammar Book. Grammar - (red group) - This week we continued learning about “Regular Plural Nouns with Consonant + y endings & Irregular Plural Nouns”. We completed pg 20-21 in the Grammar Spelling -  This week’s words are  “up, bug, mud, nut, hug, tub, cub,   gum, cup, bus” . This week, everyone in the green group got 100% and most of everyone in the red group got 100%! Friday, October 20th (Week #8)

Dear parents,  💟 Parents-Teacher Conference tomorrow!  💥Halloween celebration is on Tuesday 10/31. Please remember to prepare some candies (2 brand new packs) for your child to bring to school. They can also wear their costume to school. What did we do this week ?  Phonics -  We learned about short /e/ (net, web, ten) this week. We practiced reading different short /e/ words and played different fun games on the internet. We also reviewed short /o/ words. We had more practice and completed pages 37-42 in the Phonics Practice Book.  Grammar -  (green group)   –This week we learned about “The Verb  Be : Negative & Contractions”. We make negative sentences by adding not after the verb be: Subject + the verb be (am, are, is) + not~.  We make contractions with subjects or with not. Friday, October 13th (Week#7)

Dear parents, Halloween is coming! We will be celebrating on October 31st. This year we will organize a series of fun games for Halloween. Please start preparing a costume for your child. If your child doesn’t want to dress up, it’s totally fine. He/She can just wear the school uniform. We are going to have lots of fun!   What did we do this week?   Phonics-  We learned about the variant vowel “all” ( all , b all , w all ) this week. We practiced reading different “all” words. We had more practice and completed pages 31-36 in the Phonics Practice Book.   Grammar -  (green group)  – We learned about Subject pronouns & the Verb Be: Positive this week. We use  I, you, he, she, we, or they ,  and  it and they  for things and animals. We use the verb be (am, are, is) to say who we are or what we do. Friday, October 6th (Week #6)

Dear parents, This week we reviewed what we have learned in class since week one. Everyone is doing well and I am very proud of them.  Phonics -  We have reviewed the following:  Short vowels a/, o/ and /i (apple, cat, pot, hot, sit, pig),   and digraph /ck/. Grammar -  We have spent a lot of time in class reviewing “consonants & vowels, articles (a, an), regular plural nouns, and regular plural nouns with consonant +y ending & irregular plural nouns. Some of them are still a little confused about when to use the correct article (a, an). We will continue and practice more every day. Spelling -  This week’s words are  “sat, map, sad, mad, pin, sip, pack, kick, mop, and pot”.  We wrote our spelling test today. Everyone in the green group got 100 today!   Excellent job!
