Friday, November 24th (Week #13)

 Dear parents, This week was our test week. I am happy to say that everyone did really well on it. I passed out all 3 test papers today.  Please make sure your child does his/her corrections with a colored pencil, and do not erase anything on the test.  Please also make sure you sign all 3 test papers and send them back to school on Monday. Have a wonderful weekend and study hard for Chinese tests. Love, Ms. Kelly

Friday, November 17th (Week #12)

Dear parents,   💥This week was our review week! The students all worked really hard to prepare for their upcoming big English test! The English test will be next Wednesday, 11/22 and the Science/Math test on Thursday 11/23. Please review more during the weekend and bring all books back on Thursday 11/24.   What did we do this week?   Phonics -  We have reviewed the following: Variant vowel: /a (sounds like o - all) Short vowels /u/ and /e/ (bug, us, web, bed) Digraph:/th & Diphthong:/ng  Grammar -  We have spent a lot of time in class reviewing lessons 1-5 for the red group and lessons 2-8 for the green group. We practiced and wrote in class every day. Spelling -  We reviewed all the spelling words from weeks 7-11 We went over the words in class and practiced writing the words in our writing book.   Reading -  This week we reviewed all the old weekly reader stories and stories in the Cornerstone and Journeys book.   A/V (Audio Visual) –  Both groups went to A/V

Friday, November 10th (Week #11)

Dear parents, The next two weeks will be our review week and test week! The English test will be on Wednesday, November 22nd and Math & Science test will be on Thursday, November 23rd . I will send home the Phonics, Grammar, Math, and Science Activity book next week. The books will be sent home for revision for the upcoming test. Please do not write in it and make sure the kids bring them back next Thursday, November 23rd . What did we learn this week?   Phonics-  We learned about diphthong: /ng/ ng (ki ng , so ng ) this week. We practiced reading different /ng/ words and reviewed old contractions we learned in the past. We had more practice and completed pages 55-60 in the Phonics Practice Book.   Grammar   (green group)   –This week we reviewed lessons 5-8. We wrote pages 40 and 41. Friday, November 3rd (Week #10)

  Dear parents,   What did we do this week?   Phonics   - We learned about the digraph “th” (with, third) this week. We practiced reading different “th” words. They all did a wonderful job pronouncing each word and making different sentences. We had more practice and completed pages 49-54 in the Phonics Practice Book.   Grammar   (green group)   – This week we learned about “Question words: Who” We used who to ask about a person. We completed pages 36-38 in the grammar textbook.   Grammar   (red group)  – This week we learned about Subject pronouns & the Verb Be: Positive. We use  I, you, he, she, we, or they  and " it and they"  for things and animals. We use the verb be (am, are, is) to say who we are or what we do. This lesson was easy for some of the students and everyone understands when to use am, is, and are. We completed pg 24-25 in the Grammar Book.   Spelling   - This week’s words are  bath, path, math, with, this, them, then, that, they, teeth  (green
