Friday, November 3rd (Week #10)

 Dear parents,

What did we do this week?

Phonics - We learned about the digraph “th” (with, third) this week. We practiced reading different “th” words. They all did a wonderful job pronouncing each word and making different sentences. We had more practice and completed pages 49-54 in the Phonics Practice Book.

Grammar (green group) – This week we learned about “Question words: Who” We used who to ask about a person. We completed pages 36-38 in the grammar textbook.

Grammar (red group) – This week we learned about Subject pronouns & the Verb Be: Positive. We use I, you, he, she, we, or they and "it and they" for things and animals. We use the verb be (am, are, is) to say who we are or what we do. This lesson was easy for some of the students and everyone understands when to use am, is, and are. We completed pg 24-25 in the Grammar Book.

Spelling - This week’s words are bath, path, math, with, this, them, then, that, they, teeth (green group) bath, path, math, with, this, web, pot, dig, hen, call (red group). The students from both groups did a great job on their spelling test this week. Many of them prepared and studied the words. I am very proud of everyone! The words will get harder and harder. Please remind your child to study and be prepared for the test.

Reading - This week’s reader stories are Ross is Hot (red group) & Bow-Wow Dog (green group). Please remember to ask your child to read it to you at home. They have to keep the weekly reader book in their bags so that they will be able to read it at home and at school.

Journeys (green group) – We read “Happy Times” this week. This week’s story is about short poems about feelings.

Cornerstone (red group) - We read “Bud and His Dad”. This week’s story is about a father and his son going to different places to eat. They liked the story a lot!

Math - This week we started and finished chapter 6: Numbers to 20. We read and wrote a number from 11 to 20 and counted within 20 by making a 10 first. We also learned math vocabulary words like " greater and smaller". Everyone is doing great in Math class. We completed pages 69-78.
