Friday, February 23rd Week #2

D ear parents,  This week went by fast! Everyone is being proactive and working hard in class! I am very proud of everyone!  What did we do this week?  Phonics - In this week’s phonics lesson we learned about the long vowel “ai & ay”. We learned different words that have the ai/ay sounds like mail, rain, day, play, and more. The students practiced by saying the words over and over again. We had more practice and wrote pages 103-108 in the Phonics book.  Grammar- (red Group) This week we learned about “Possessive Adjectives”. Possessive adjectives show possession. Possessive adjectives say that something belongs to someone or something. They come before nouns. For example: I am Tom. This is my book. We had more practice and wrote pages 50-52 in the Grammar book. Grammar-   (green group)   This week we learned about “The Simple Present of the Verb  Have ”. We use the verb  have/has  for something we possess or that belongs  to us  now. We did pages 68-70 in the Grammar Practi

Saturday, February 17th Week #1

Dear Parents, I am so happy to see all of the students’ happy faces back at school again. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday.  What did we do this week?  Phonics - In this week’s phonics lesson we learned about the long vowel “ee & ea”. We learned different words with ee/ea sounds like tree, bee, eat, treat, and more. The students practiced by saying the words over and over again. We had more practice and wrote pages  97-102 in the Phonics book.  Grammar -  (Red Group)   This week we learned about “Adjectives (size, color, shape)”. Adjectives are words that describe nouns. They describe things like the size, color, or shape of nouns. Adjectives come before a noun or after the verb be.  We had more practice and wrote pages  46-48 in the grammar textbook.  Grammar -  (Green Group)  This week’s grammar lesson we learned about “The simple present of the verb “like”. Welcome back to 2nd semester!! =)

Hello parents! Welcome back to school! I hope you all had a wonderful time over the winter break! I told the students last semester that I would be holding their reading up to a higher level and expect them to read more books or stories in class and at home. We will start working on book reports. This will allow the students to express their opinions about different aspects of a story. My 2nd semester expectations for each class: Red Class 102   Students should read the stories from the weekly reader book at least 2 times every day. They should be able to read the story out loud in front of the class and understand what it is about. Green class 101   Students should be able to lead the class to read the stories from the weekly reader book or Journeys stories. We will also have class discussions about the stories (main characters, settings, and which 7 habits are in the stories.) I will encourage them to read more and raise the monthly reader goal.
