Friday, November 10th (Week #11)

Dear parents,

The next two weeks will be our review week and test week! The English test will be on Wednesday, November 22nd and Math & Science test will be on Thursday, November 23rd. I will send home the Phonics, Grammar, Math, and Science Activity book next week. The books will be sent home for revision for the upcoming test. Please do not write in it and make sure the kids bring them back next Thursday, November 23rd.

What did we learn this week?

Phonics- We learned about diphthong: /ng/ ng (king, song) this week. We practiced reading different /ng/ words and reviewed old contractions we learned in the past. We had more practice and completed pages 55-60 in the Phonics Practice Book.

Grammar (green group) –This week we reviewed lessons 5-8. We wrote pages 40 and 41. We will continue reviewing next week for the big test.

Grammar (red group) – This week we continued learning about Subject pronouns & the Verb Be: Positive. We use I, you, he, she, we, or they and it for things and animals. We also reviewed vowels and consonants.

Spelling- We always review the spelling, vocabulary, and weekly sentences on Monday. I show them a picture of every word. We write the spelling words in the writing book and we also make sentences with some of the words. This week both groups did really well on the test! I am very proud of everyone!

Reading- We reviewed all the old weekly reader stories this week. Everyone is doing a great job of reading! I am very proud of everyone!  Please remember to ask your child to read it to you at home. They have to keep it in their English bag so that they will be able to read it at school and at home.

Journeys (green group)  We read “At Home in the Ocean”. We talked about different animals that live in the water. It was quite fun to hear what animals they talked about.

Cornerstone (red group) - We read “Joe Has a Job” this week. This week’s story is about a man named Joe who delivers packages.

Science- This week, we reviewed units 1-3. The students remembered very well what we had learned in the past few weeks.

Math- We finished chapter 7 “Addition and Subtraction Within 20” this week. Everyone is doing a super job on addition and subtraction. Please practice more at home for the upcoming big test next week.

Have a GREAT weekend and STUDY HARD!

Love,

Ms. Kelly
